With the majority of companies embracing a hybrid work model, remote teammates can feel like 2nd-class citizens. Hybrid Spaces is a window into the office to let remote teammates engage and collaborate with their in-person teammates. This will walk you through setting up Spaces for your company.
1. Prep Kiosks
A Kiosk is a screen + camera + mic in the physical office. A Space ties multiple kiosks together to give remote teammates a powerful window into the office.
The minimum viable kiosk is a spare laptop or chrome book, but we recommend having larger screens and better audio/video setups.

2. Provision Spaces and Kiosks
- First, make sure you’re logged into Tandem: https://tandem.chat (create a team if you don’t have one).
- Go to tandem.chat/spaces and add a new Space (e.g. SF Office) and a couple kiosks in that space (e.g. Meeting room 1, open floor 2, window lounge).
- Pro-tip: Add your office’s wifi BSSID for automatic in-person presence!
- For each kiosk, go to tandem.chat/kiosk on your kiosk device. Download, install, and open the Tandem Kiosk app to get a log in code.
- If you have issues with the downloaded kiosk app, please try the kiosk app in web mode at tandem.chat/app/kiosk - the web app works better for some setups.
- Go back to tandem.chat/spaces and hit ‘log in’ on one of your newly created kiosks, and enter your code. Your kiosk should be logged in and ready to go now!
3. Invite your team!
Get an invite link via the Tandem app and send it to your team (both in-person and remote teammates!) so they can access Spaces.
